Information We Collect
Ski Map does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Specifically:
- No account creation or login is required.
- No analytics SDKs or crash-reporting services are embedded in the app.
- No advertising identifiers or tracking pixels are used.
- No usage data, behavioral data, or device fingerprints are collected.
Location Data
Ski Map may request access to your device’s location services in order to display your current position on the map. This access is governed by the following principles:
- Only while in use: Location is accessed only when the app is actively open in the foreground. The app does not request background location access.
- Never stored: Your location coordinates are used solely to render your position on the map within the app. They are never written to disk beyond normal OS caching.
- Never transmitted: Your location is never sent to our servers or any third-party service. No location data leaves your device.
- Optional: Location permission is not required to use the app. Denying or revoking permission simply means the map will not center on your current position.
Map Tile & Data Requests
When you view the map, your device fetches map tiles and ski data from servers operated by OpenStreetMap and OpenSkiMap. These are standard HTTP requests. Like any web request, they may transmit your device’s IP address to those servers. Ski Map has no control over how those third-party services handle IP addresses; please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.
Offline mode (downloading resort data to your device) reduces the number of network requests made while you are using the app on the mountain.
Third-Party Services
Ski Map does not integrate any of the following:
- Advertising networks
- Analytics platforms (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude)
- Crash reporting services (e.g., Crashlytics, Sentry)
- Social login or identity providers
The only outbound network traffic from the app is map tile and ski-data requests to OpenStreetMap / OpenSkiMap infrastructure, as described above.
Children’s Privacy
Ski Map does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal data is collected at all, the app is suitable for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes materially in the future, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
