About the App
Ski Map shows detailed, color-coded trail maps for ski resorts around the world using data from OpenSkiMap and OpenStreetMap. Runs are color-coded by difficulty, and you can search for resorts, runs, and lifts by name.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the map data come from?
All ski area, run, and lift data comes from OpenSkiMap, which is built on top of OpenStreetMap (ODbL license). Because this is community-contributed data, coverage and accuracy vary by region. You can help improve it by editing OpenStreetMap directly.
What do the trail colors mean?
Runs are color-coded by difficulty following common international conventions: green = easy, blue = intermediate, black = advanced / expert, orange = freeride / off-piste. Red markers indicate lifts.
Can I use the app offline?
Yes. You can download map data for individual resorts to your device before you head to the mountain. Once downloaded, trail maps, run names, and lift information are available without an internet connection. A connection is still required for the initial download.
How do I search for a resort, run, or lift?
Tap the search icon at the top of the map screen and start typing. Results include ski areas, individual runs, and lifts. Selecting a result will pan and zoom the map to that location automatically.
Does the app use my location?
Location is used only while the app is open and only to show your position on the map. Your location is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties. You can use the app without granting location permission; the map simply will not center on your current position.
